Twelve blank calendar cards with platinum and silver hair swatches and a salon color bowl

The Blonde Maintenance Calendar

Blonde does not fail all at once. It fails on a schedule, and the schedule is predictable enough to put on a calendar and hand to the client.

Here is the one we would give a colorist stocking for blonde volume.

Why blonde goes warm

Lifting removes pigment in a fixed order. The cool tones go first and the warm underlying pigment is what is left. Then water, sun, heat and product build-up pull it further toward yellow.

Nothing you do at the appointment stops that. What you can do is decide how often something cool goes back in, and who does it.

Week 1: right after the service

The hair is at its most porous and it grabs pigment fast. This is the wrong week for a heavy toning session and the right week to protect what you just paid for.

Send her home with a wash that is not going to strip. If the blonde also went through smoothing, a wash built to hold that work is doing two jobs at once.

Weeks 2 to 4: the first drift

This is when she notices it in daylight and not in the mirror at home. Warmth comes back at the mid-lengths first.

A toner mask is the right tool here because it deposits while it conditions and needs no developer. Which one depends on where she is on the cool axis.

What she says Reach for
It looks yellow again Mask Toner Silver, the grey side of blonde
It looks grey and flat Mask Toner Vanilla, warm gold back in
I want it icy Mask Toner Platinum, near white with a cool cast
I swim and it went green Siller Snow White, which also removes chlorine green

Vanilla and Silver pull in opposite directions. Getting this backwards is the most common way a maintenance appointment makes the problem worse.

Weeks 4 to 8: the repair window

By now the question is not only color. Bleached hair loses structure, and a client who has been lifting for a year has ends that feel different from her roots.

This is where a toning treatment beats a toner mask, because it does both jobs. Siller Ultra Silver is built as an anti-yellow that also moisturizes and repairs blonde and bleached hair, with ingredients meant to close the cuticle and cut frizz.

If the structural damage is ahead of the color problem, treat the structure first. Toning hair that is snapping is solving the wrong problem in the right order.

Weeks 8 to 12: the decision point

Either she rebooks for a lift or she commits to living at the current level for a while. Both are fine. What is not fine is drifting into month four with no plan and a client who thinks her blonde "just stopped working."

For the client stretching the gap, a hair botox with toning built in does the most work in one session. Beox BTX Anti-Yellow 1kg repairs and neutralizes together.

One thing to know before you book it: that formula contains DMDM Hydantoin, a preservative that releases formaldehyde. Ventilate, wear gloves, and do not use it on a client who has told you she avoids releasers. We would rather you hear that from us than read it on the tub.

The calendar, on one page

When What Who does it
Week 1 Protect. Gentle wash, no heavy toning Client at home
Weeks 2 to 4 Toner mask on the drift Either
Weeks 4 to 8 Toning treatment, color plus repair Salon
Weeks 8 to 12 Rebook the lift, or a toning botox to stretch Salon

What to stock if you are starting

Two bottles cover most of a blonde chair: one cool for the client who goes brassy, one warm for the client who goes flat. Buy them in 300ml first. The liter is the salon size and it makes sense once you know which shade you burn through.

The full range is in Color Toners, twenty one products, shipped from Maryland with no customs bill at the door.
